Built-in modules

What each rack slot type does and how it connects to the rest of the patch.

Expanded module panels: keyboard, controls, and slot headers in the rack
Typical slot panels — SoundFont keyboard, knobs, channel badges, and per-slot actions vary by module type.

GrooveForge Keyboard

Multi-timbral SoundFont (.sf2) engine with up to 16 MIDI channels per slot, per-channel bank/program, optional per-slot vocoder, and gesture actions on the on-screen keys. Wire MIDI IN from hardware or from Virtual Piano / Looper; audio OUT goes to the master bus or other effects via patch cables.

Virtual Piano

Touch keyboard with no internal sound — it only forwards MIDI through its jacks. Ideal ahead of a SoundFont or VST instrument. Connect Scale IN from Jam Mode for highlighted scale degrees and snapping.

Vocoder (GFPA)

Dedicated slot with carrier waveforms (saw, square, choral, natural/PSOLA), MIDI pitch bend and vibrato (CC1), and microphone modulation. Multiple vocoder slots can coexist.

Stylophone & Theremin

Monophonic Stylophone strip and Theremin pad with MIDI OUT to the rest of the rack. Theremin supports CAM mode on some platforms (motion via front camera — see privacy policy).

Jam Mode

Single-instance processor: choose a master channel; when the master plays chords or bass (configurable), target keyboards and vocoders lock to the derived scale. Includes scale type, BPM-aligned root updates, and optional pin strip under the transport. Pairs with Virtual Piano Scale IN or internal scale lock on keyboards.

Jam Mode — live scale readout, scale family, master/target configuration, and optional compact strip under the transport.

MIDI Looper

Multi-track MIDI recorder/looper with overdub, per-track mute, reverse, speed, and quantisation. MIDI IN can be any upstream source; MIDI OUT feeds instruments. State is stored inside .gf projects.

Drum Generator

Transport-synced drum machine driven by .gfdrum pattern files: step grids, humanisation, swing, fills, and optional count-in. Uses General MIDI drum notes on the configured SoundFont.

Descriptor effects & MIDI FX

Bundled .gfpd plugins provide reverb, delay, wah, EQ, compressor, chorus (audio) and harmonizer, arpeggiator, transposer, chord expand, velocity curve, gate (MIDI). Custom descriptors can be loaded from disk.
